DiUS Labs
DiUS Labs embodies Research and Development initiatives that aim to keep DiUS at the forefront of technical innovation. Labs is the incubator for projects and products that we believe will make a difference to users and customers through the application of smart design and smart technologies. Labs is also our sandpit for exploring ideas that we think might be the next innovation to make a difference.
Processing Ideas
DiUS places a high price on the ideas generated from within the company and actively works to help realize them. DiUS processes ideas by actively encouraging our people to submit ideas for peer review. An ideas panel regularly assesses submitted ideas and activates a simple workflow for those that are seen as meeting our business goals or those of our network of customers and potential customers. With input from the idea submitter, candidate ideas become a sandpit project and take on all the attributes of an agile development project, with targeted releases focused on producing a market-testable software system.
Product Development
The best ideas that are developed through the sandpit environment become candidates for product development. DiUS is currently developing products in the AMI (Automated Metering Infrastructure), software testing, iPhone and social networking domains.
Labs as Service
DiUS Labs has developed a dynamic environment for exploring, developing and validating ideas and software. To support our own initiative, we have defined and implemented:
- collaboration tools
- agile development processes
- software configuration management
- development, testing and online production environments
DiUS Labs lets our network of partners and customers work with us to explore their research and development initiatives. Many organisations have the business need and desire to explore their own ideas in a technical context, but don’t have the available people, environments or even space to do so. DiUS has successfully co-resourced with a number of our partners to drive out ideas towards developing prototypes, business cases and, in some cases, fully-fledged project initiatives.
